3 Most Common Dental Problems (And How to Avoid Them)

Our oral health is important and it is essential that we keep it maintained. However, we are all likely to encounter dental issues, whether it is our gums or teeth, at some stage in our lives. Prevention is key and the more you keep on top of your dental health, the less likely it will be for these problems to turn into something more serious. If you are unsure of how to recognize dental issues, then read on and find out the top 3 most common dental problems (and how to avoid them).

The first in the top 3 most common dental problems is staining. Teeth can often go an unattractive shade of yellow that is not desirable to most people. This can be caused by drinking coffee, tea and red wine, eating deeply coloured foods, such as blueberries, smoking, or sometimes just through genetics. One of the best ways to avoid this is by not consuming these types of foods and drinks, or smoking, and by cleaning your teeth regularly and properly. You should also get a proper dental cleaning twice per year.

Number 2 of the top 3 most common dental problems is gingivitis. This is an inflammation of the gums and a tell-tale sign is seeing blood in the sink when you are brushing your teeth. Avoiding it means cleaning your teeth properly, this includes flossing and brushing, and of course a dental cleaning twice peryear.

The last of our top 3 most common dental problems is bad breath, sometimes known as halitosis. This can often be as a result of the food we eat, but a common cause of bad breath is poor oral hygiene. Naturally, this can be avoided by brushing the teeth and the tongue after every meal, as well as flossing and getting a professional cleaning regularly.

Prevention is the key when it comes to these common dental problems and prevention starts with good oral hygiene. Don’t be a victim of something that can so easily be avoided and check in with your dentist every now and again, so they can point you on the right track if you have started to veer off it.

Me and my family love coming to this dentist. We never feel uncomfortable. We have had many other dentists in the past but Halo is our favourite. We love the receptionist, Sukhi, she is very kind and always has a smile on her face. She greats everyone with the same kindness and makes them feel good. All around everyone I have met at Halo are kind and make sure you are the number 1 priority. We always feel like we are with family when we go to Halo. I would highly recommend coming to Halo Dental because they care about each and everyone of their clients. We will always continue to go to Halo Dental as long as we live.

The best clinic I have been so far. I have been in Canada from last 29 years and could not find a good dentist. Just move to New Westminster two years ago and visited the Dentist in the community. Dr. Bajaj was very very professional and caring. I would recommend her to every one.
