The holidays are known as a time to indulge. While we generally have a great time, this isn’t always good for our health. However, there are still ways in which you can enjoy the holidays and remember to keep your health in decent shape. Today, the team at Halo Dental are going to pass on their expert advice on how to take care of your teeth over the holidays.
Always Remember to Brush and Floss
Our routines tend to be upended over the holiday season. We have time off work, we go on nights out and we have family over. This doesn’t mean that you should stop taking care of your teeth over the holidays. Even if you are extremely tired, it only takes a few minutes at the end of the night to brush and floss. You will feel better for it in the morning, even if the rest of your body isn’t in the best shape!
Avoid Staining
The food and drink we consume during the holiday season can contribute to staining our teeth. There is rich gravy, red wine, endless tea and coffee and all of these can make your teeth less white. Be conscious of how much of these foods you are consuming and make sure to alternate with glasses of water and clean your teeth after meals if you are consuming this type of food and liquid.
Don’t Let Bad Habits Slip In
With a lack of routine and lots of temptations around, it can be tough keeping bad habits at bay. However, you need to look at the bigger picture and while it is okay indulge every once in a while, don’t go overboard. Try to not drink too much alcohol or soda and don’t eat too many sugary foods. All of these will affect your dental health.
Common sense is the main way that you can take care of your teeth over the holidays. You know that you shouldn’t be doing these things all year round, so keep the indulgence minimal during the holidays. That way you can still have a good time, but you won’t have to deal with any unwanted dental treatment here at the Halo clinic during the new year.
The team here would like to wish all of our clients a very happy holidays and if you have any questions on how to take care of your teeth over the holidays, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
